The Arab British Chamber of Commerce welcomed in 2017 with a New Year reception held on the evening of Thursday 18th January. Approximately 130 leading figures from business, politics and diplomatic circles had accepted the Chamber’s invitation to attend the special event which was hosted by the Shangri-La Hotel at its spectacular venue located in the Shard.
The dignitaries who joined in the celebrations included a strong contingent from the Council of Arab Ambassadors in the UK who enjoyed the Chamber’s hospitality and mingled with numerous ambassadorial representatives from various different countries and other distinguished guests. The impressive guest list comprised top business executives, senior politicians and members of the House of Lords. The Chamber’s Board of Directors was fully represented.
Attendees were warmly greeted by the ABCC Chairman, Rt Hon Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean and Dr Afnan Al-Shuaiby, ABCC Secretary General & CEO. The reception underlined the strength of support for the work of the ABCC and emphasised that it was open for business and determined to play a key role in efforts to deepen Arab-British commercial relations in these changing and challenging times as the UK embarks on the process of departing from the European Union.
