London, 14 May 2025 – The Arab-British Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) was honoured to welcome a distinguished delegation from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan for a ministerial roundtable focused on high-value investment opportunities for UK businesses.
The Chamber was privileged to host two senior Jordanian ministers: H.E. Mr. Mothanna Gharaibeh, Minister of Investment, and H.E. Ms. Zeina Toukan, Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, who engaged in discussions with UK investors, business leaders, and diplomats on Jordan’s economic potential and avenues for collaboration.
The roundtable was chaired by The Rt Hon Baroness Symons of Vernham Dean, ABCC Chairman, who commended Minister Gharaibeh’s dynamic presentation and spoke warmly of her personal experiences in Jordan. The ministers were joined by senior diplomatic representatives from the Jordanian Embassy.
Mr. Abdeslam El-Idrissi, ABCC Deputy CEO & Secretary General, introduced Minister Gharaibeh, highlighting Jordan’s highly skilled workforce and its advantageous access to $50 trillion in global markets through favourable trade agreements. He noted that leading international technology firms have already been drawn to Jordan, encouraged by incentives supporting exporters and manufacturers. Jordan’s resilient economy, he remarked, makes it a reliable base for firms seeking to expand.
Mr. Bandar Reda, ABCC Secretary General & CEO, welcomed Minister Toukan, who discussed Jordan’s ambitious projects in water and renewable energy, including solar, wind, and green hydrogen initiatives requiring substantial foreign investment. She also addressed major infrastructure upgrades and innovative approaches to tackling water scarcity.
Audience members engaged enthusiastically with questions on a broad range of sectors including education, telecommunications, legal reform, healthcare, and public-private partnerships. Two short films were also presented: one showcasing the forthcoming Arab British Economic Summit (ABES 2025), and another produced by Invest Jordan.
Baroness Symons closed the session by praising the ministers’ vision and ambition, noting that the roundtable had opened new avenues for UK–Jordan cooperation, while reinforcing the ABCC’s role as a platform for strengthening bilateral partnerships.
