An invitation letter issued by a recognized unit like a Chinese university or an individual in China. The content of the invitation letter should include:

• Personal information of the applicant. Such as full name, gender, date of birth, and passport number.
• Details of the planned visit. Such as purpose of visit, arrival and departure dates, place(s) of stay, activity arrangement, and financial support.
• Contact information of the inviter. Such as name, telephone number, address, official stamp, signature.

The copy of the invitation letter is acceptable, but the consular officer may require the applicant to submit the original.

If the invitation letter is issued by an individual who lives in China, then a copy of the inviter’s personal ID card (both sides) or passport would be required.
