Course description: Incoterms® are a set of internationally recognised rules, set by the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), which define the responsibilities of importers and exporters involved in international commercial transactions. The ICC recently published a new edition of Incoterms® rules, Incoterms® 2020, which will help prepare business for the next decade of global trade. When used correctly, Incoterms® avoid uncertainty, minimise delay and facilitate smooth operations, transport and payment. The course content will be applicable to all scenarios post Brexit. The course will explore:

  • What are Incoterms®?
  • What are the changes from the Incoterms® 2010 version to the new 2020 version?
  • The obligations and responsibilities for each term in the 2020 version
  • The most suitable Incoterm® for each mode of transport
  • Avoiding pitfalls and problems from the use of unsuitable terms
  • The commercial benefits in sales negotiations

Who should attend? This course is suitable for companies new to international trade as well as experienced companies who may want to refresh and update their knowledge. The content applies to companies who trade both within and outside of the EU. The course is especially beneficial for people working in sales, shipping, logistics, customer services, purchasing, buying, freight forwarding and accounts.
